Design and development of an in-flight entertainment system for an undisclosed airline
The project team started by conducting research to determine what features and content passengers would want in an in-flight entertainment system. They also studied the latest technologies and trends in the industry to ensure that the system would be cutting-edge and competitive. Based on this research, the team developed a comprehensive plan for the system, including hardware and software components, user interfaces, and content partnerships.
I became involved about midway in the project. My responsibility was to improve the art direction without deviating too far from the original design, and produce additional content – from new views, compontents and features to iconography and illustrations.
The system was designed to offer a wide range of entertainment options, including movies, TV shows, music, games, and e-books. Passengers could browse and select content using an intuitive and easy-to-use interface, which was designed with the latest principles of user experience design in mind. The system also featured personalized recommendations based on passengers' viewing history and preferences, as well as the ability to create custom playlists and download content for offline viewing.
To ensure that the system was reliable and high-performing, the project team conducted extensive testing and optimization. They also worked closely with the airline to integrate the system with other onboard technologies, such as Wi-Fi and cabin lighting systems.
